S
mall Change, Big Impact on Packaging Goals
PepsiCo is making meaningful progress toward its sustainability commitments—one label at a time. Under PepsiCo Positive (pep+), we’re reimagining the way we operate by putting sustainability at the heart of our business and investing in solutions that respect planetary boundaries while creating value for our customers, communities, and the planet

The Update
PepsiCo is proud to announce an update to the packaging of all North American 2-liter beverages. In order to support our ambition of designing more sustainable packaging across our portfolio, we are launching a shorter label that uses fewer materials and reduces waste. By reducing label height from 5.25 inches to 4.125 inches, this initiative is projected to eliminate over 300,000 pounds of resin annually, all without making any changes to the product inside. It may seem like a small adjustment, but it’s part of a larger shift toward more sustainable packaging.
Why It Matters
This label update reinforces PepsiCo’s commitment to meet consumer expectations for sustainability through continuous improvement. Packaging is one of the most visible ways consumers interact with PepsiCo products and one of the most important opportunities to reduce our environmental footprint. As consumer interest in sustainability continues to rise, so does the expectation that brands lead by example. With 9 in 10 consumers saying sustainability matters, it’s clear this is top of mind.1 This packaging initiative demonstrates that sustainability doesn’t always require sweeping overhauls; small changes can create significant impacts.
